Scottish School Meals Week (SSMW) will be offered to all councils in Scotland – some will do all promotions – some may pick whichever they want to do. All events have been created to highlight the good quality of the school meals service across Scotland
SCOTTISH SCHOOL MEALS WEEK:
31 October – Friday 4th November 2016
This promotion will run across – potentially – all schools in Scotland.
Monday 31 October
Highlighting the Scottish School Cook of year recipe – the winning recipe and local recipes from school cooks who participated in the final, sponsored by Muller Milk Ingredients, will be featured in the lunch service.
Tuesday 1 November
We’ll be having a Meat free day sponsored by Quorn, with three fantastic recipes for schools to choose from.
Wednesday2 November
The Great Scottish Bake Off – sponsored by Unilever. Following a competition with school cooks to show off their baking skills – we’ll be highlighting great tasty recipes in the school. On this day we’ll also be creating gluten free recipe, which have been designed for the schools by Phil Vickery
Thursday 3 November
‘The Big Lunch Scot Pot’ competition sponsored by Brakes is a pupil competition that will ask secondary school pupils to come up with a one pot meal recipe that can be turned into a packaged product by Brakes – supported by Scottish Food and Drink Federation and Education Scotland. The winning recipe will be featured on this day!
Friday 4 November
Our charity for the year is ‘Social Bite’ – and the school meals service in your area will be highlighting the work of Social Bite as well as creating a bit of fun in the dining room – sponsored by Cunningham CRB Solutions.
